There are only a number of film characters that have been beloved by the viewers and one of them is Liesl Von Trapp, the oldest daughter with a headstrong personality in the film The Sound of Music. The actress who played the iconic role is none other than Charmian Carr and in the hearts and minds of the fans of the film she will always be branded as Sixteen Going on 17.
It was only last month that Carr was reported to have passed away at the age of 73 because of complications attributed by a rare form of dementia. Her home is located at Encino California and this is where her two daughters grew up. The listing price is set at $1.695 million.
After her film The Sound Of Music, the actress also played a role in a musical called Evening Primrose which was produced by Anthony Perkins. After which she got married and decided to leave behind the entertainment industry for a private family life. After leaving the glitz and glamour of show business, Carr dedicated herself to her family as well as her business which is in interior design called Charmian Carr Designs.
It was in 1957 when the home was built with a Mellenthin style to it. The beauty is highlighted by the wood siding used, not to mention the presence of a birdhouse and motifs resembling dovecote. It was the latest trend in San Fernando Valley during the time when the house was designed. There are seamless features added to the design which makes the total land area of the property to 4,244 square feet. There are seven bedrooms inside and five bathrooms. It was in 1969 when the Carr family bought it.
The interior design of the house was evident of the attention to detail that Carr devoted. Her craftsmanship can be seen through the interior designs which made her start the business in the first place. It boomed in the 80s and 90s. One of the most popular clients Carr ever had is Michael Jackson who is also a fan of her classic movies.
